The essence of our path
Casa do Tempo is more than a rural retreat. It is a living space where tourism becomes regeneration. For us, regeneration means giving back more than we receive, to nature, to people, and to the community. Every action, no matter how small, is a seed of change.
So what is Regenerative Tourism?
Regenerative tourism goes a little further than sustainability. It does not cancel it out, but deepens it. While sustainability seeks to reduce negative impacts and maintain balance, regeneration seeks to create conditions for life to flourish continuously, restoring ecosystems, strengthening communities, and restoring vitality to places.
Regenerative tourism is a process in which stakeholders in the tourism sector collectively take care and responsibility through decisions and practices to improve and enhance the natural, human, and built elements of a destination, allowing them to go beyond mere survival.

How we work on the 4 Pillars of Regeneration
At Casa do Tempo, we believe that regenerating means acting consciously every day, in the choices we make, in the people we collaborate with, and in the way we care for the land and our home. We work in a simple, practical, and honest way, aligning every decision with the purpose of leaving a positive impact. We create to improve, to learn, and to give back to the place part of what it gives us.
This is how we live these four pillars: People, Planet, Profit, and Purpose.
Purpose: To live with intention and presence
Time is our most precious asset. Casa do Tempo exists to invite you to discover the essence of time, a way to regenerate.
We created this project as a laboratory for conscious living, where every detail has intention.
We offer spaces for silence, reading, and contemplation for those seeking presence and reconnection.
We communicate authentically and transparently
We promote events and retreats with purpose, focused on well-being, regeneration, and nature.
The experiences and activities follow the rhythm of the seasons, respecting natural cycles.
People: Caring for those who live, visit, and collaborate
Regeneration begins with those who are part of the project: neighbors, suppliers, guests, and those who care for this space daily. At Casa do Tempo, people are not just welcome; they are part of the story that is unfolding here.
We hire local people for maintenance, gardening, and cleaning support.
We choose suppliers from the region for products and services (wood, vegetables, construction).
- We involve the community in seasonal experiences and activities (open days).
- We promote the local economy through recommendations for restaurants, markets, and neighboring producers; partnerships; and exchanges of knowledge, goods, and services.
Planet: Regenerating soil, water, and biodiversity
It all starts with the earth. Casa do Tempo lives in harmony with its ecosystem and works to give back to nature more than it takes.
- We planted the first six mini edible forests in June 2025 according to the principles of Biggest Mini Forest and the characteristics of the site.
- We implemented worm composting to transform waste into fertility.
- We keep energy consumption low, favoring natural ventilation and LED lighting.
- We are gradually developing more environmental initiatives that include the use of renewable energy, water reuse, and impact measurement for better control.
Profit: Prosper with balance and circularity
Regeneration is also measured by how value circulates. We believe in tourism that benefits those who make it possible for the people and the territory.
- All purchases and operational services are preferably made in the region (Mação, Gavião, Nisa, etc.).
- Part of the income is reinvested in the edible forest and in ecological improvements to the spaces.
- We collaborate with local producers to offer breakfasts and experiences with regional products.
- We maintain a transparent and circular economy by choosing conscious suppliers whenever possible.
- We use resources rationally, without waste or excess
Communities & Partnerships. Caring is collaborating
Casa do Tempo only makes sense in connection with those around it.
We believe that regenerating a place also means strengthening the relationships that sustain it, sharing knowledge, creating opportunities, and celebrating what is done together. One of our goals is to work side by side with the local community, artisans, producers, and schools, building a living network of collaboration where everyone wins: the territory, the people, and time.
For all these reasons, Casa do Tempo is open to new partnerships and ideas. We are looking for people and projects that value the territory, authenticity, and regeneration in any form of collaboration that brings mutual value.
